Your challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a notebook that presents, implements and critically examines your paper work: a scientific hypothesis, a lighting controller and an artistic interpretation.
A reader should understand what you proposed on paper, how you translated it into code, and what changed during that process.

Build your notebook<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 1 Introduce your paper proposal<\/strong>
    State the user need and present your three original ideas. Include a photograph of your paper work or transcribe its essential content.
    Identify one assumption your group made.
    2 Represent the observations<\/strong>
    Enter the six observations into a table or Python data structure. Explain each variable and its unit.
    Check that counts are non-negative and distinguish missing values from observed zeros. Keep the original data unchanged.
    3 Present your scientific investigation<\/strong>
    Write your original hypothesis before displaying your analysis.
    Create one labelled plot and calculate one numerical comparison.\u00a0Explain:
    What pattern do you observe?
    Does it support, contradict or leave your hypothesis unresolved?
    What alternative explanation remains possible?
    What additional observations or experiment would help?
    Treat these invented observations as teaching material, not evidence about a real campus.
    4 Implement your engineering proposal<\/strong>
    Translate your paper rule into a function returning\u00a0OFF<\/strong>,\u00a0LOW<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0HIGH<\/strong>.
    State your thresholds and missing-data policy. Demonstrate at least four tests: two normal cases, one boundary case and one missing-reading case.
    Using\u00a0OFF = 0 W, LOW = 20 W and HIGH = 60 W<\/strong>, calculate energy for each supplied 15-minute interval:
    Energy in Wh = power in W \u00d7 0.25 h<\/strong>
    Explain one trade-off. The six observations are separated in time: their energy sum does not represent a complete day.
    5 Recreate your artistic interpretation<\/strong>
    Translate your paper sketch into a visual composition, or include a documented drawing or performance score.
    Explain how at least two data properties map to visual or temporal features. Describe how you represent absence.
    Add an\u00a080\u2013120 word artist statement<\/strong>\u00a0explaining your intention and choices.
    6 Compare paper and notebook<\/strong>
    Present three consequential decisions, one per domain:
    –<\/strong> Original paper choice<\/strong>
    – Notebook implementation<\/strong>
    – What changed and why<\/strong>
    Scientific investigation
    Engineering controller
    Artistic interpretation
    Conclude with one unresolved question.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Submission and review<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Submit one .ipynb file with explanations, code and visible outputs. Include any external images or files it needs. Restart the kernel and run all cells before submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
