Arts, engineering, sciences and imaginaries of creativity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The activity begins with three tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First,&nbsp;<strong>Moli\u00e8re Ex Machina<\/strong><a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/F568CD57-EA6B-458A-ADFF-DBF1F0947D52#_ftn1\"><sup><strong><sup><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/sup><\/strong><\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;(https:\/\/www.ac-paris.fr\/moliere-et-ia-des-eleves-de-l-academie-de-paris-a-l-opera-royal-du-chateau-de-versailles-134041) raises the question of artistic creation through heritage, style, a historical period and counterfactual fiction: \u201cWhat play might Moli\u00e8re have written had he not died in 1673?\u201d The project brings together theatre, research, classical heritage and generative AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, the scientific case presented by Cornell (https:\/\/news.cornell.edu\/stories\/2025\/12\/ai-gives-scientists-boost-cost-too-many-mediocre-papers) highlights how LLMs can increase scientific output while making it harder to distinguish between a substantive contribution and a well-written text with little scientific value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, the ESSEC article (https:\/\/knowledge.essec.edu\/en\/innovation\/age-ai-do-we-still-need-researchers.html) offers a complementary view: AI can detect robust patterns in large datasets, but meaning-making, explanation, hypothesis formulation and judgement remain deeply human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Activity objective<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collectively build a&nbsp;<strong>database of concepts, definitions, examples and tensions<\/strong>&nbsp;around four questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>What is an artistic, engineering or scientific output?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What is creativity in the arts, engineering and sciences?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What feeds this creativity: data, lived experience, knowledge, emotions, cultures, imaginaries, methods?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How does AI support, transform, shift or replace particular creative acts?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expected output is a structured database with the following fields: concept, domain, definition, example, human role, AI role, data used, risks, opportunities, keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General format<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The activity draws on\u00a0<strong>physical cards<\/strong>. The cards prompt small-group discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each group receives a pack containing four types of cards:&nbsp;<strong>concept cards<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>situation cards<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>tension cards<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>production cards<\/strong>.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Schedule 30 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5 minutes \u2014 Introduction and framing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the age of AI, is creativity a human capacity, a property of works, a collective process, a combination of data or an interaction between humans, machines and the lived world?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Introducing the three starting points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Moli\u00e8re Ex Machina<\/strong>: AI as a partner in creation situated within a heritage, language, style, historical period and theatrical tradition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cornell<\/strong>: AI as an accelerator of scientific output, with the risk of a proliferation of texts of average quality or difficult to evaluate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ESSEC<\/strong>: AI as a tool for detecting patterns, while humans remain central to asking questions, interpreting, explaining and making meaning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructions: each group will produce a short collective definition and complete a form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5 minutes \u2014 Forming groups and distributing cards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Form groups of&nbsp;<strong>4 to 6 people<\/strong>.&nbsp;Each group receives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 concept cards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 situation cards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tension cards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 production card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each group chooses a spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>10 minutes \u2014 Guided discussion: defining creativity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each group answers three questions using the cards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In your case, what are you producing?<\/strong><br>A work, a hypothesis, a paper, an interpretation, an experiment, a method, a performance, a theory, a database, a narrative?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where does creativity lie?<\/strong><br>In the initial idea, formulation, style, method, interpretation, lived experience, recombination, deviation, surprise, judgement, gesture, emotion or making connections?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does AI change?<\/strong><br>It accelerates, suggests, imitates, recombines, explores, formalises, assists, standardises, homogenises, shifts authority, increases output or blurs the boundary between human contribution and automated generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>10 minutes \u2014 Brief feedback<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each group has&nbsp;<strong>1 -2 minutes<\/strong>&nbsp;to share:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>its definition of creativity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what AI transforms;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what remains irreducibly human or situated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/F568CD57-EA6B-458A-ADFF-DBF1F0947D52#_ftnref1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;Arte video&nbsp;https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/fr\/videos\/133043-000-A\/moliere-ex-machina\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The activity begins with three tensions.
